I wanted to learn more about the Language Assessment Center (LAC) at Alvord Unified School District (AUSD) since I know someone who is employed in this office. After searching AUSD's website, I found out there were only two words that mentioned to others about this important office.
LAC services two groups of users: district employees and parents. There are a few reasons as to why a site for LAC must be constructed to provide information to others.
- District employees often need translating done for numerous items, such as parent-teacher conferences and letters.
- Students who come from other districts and/or speak a language other than English must be tested in order to be placed in the right program and level.
- Children who are entering Kindergarten must be tested to see at what level he or she is at.
Planning
There will be seven guidelines used to organize and construct my site for LAC:
- Creating a mission statement.
- Defining who are the users.
- Determining the content.
- Creating a prototype of my website.
- Gathering feedback from potential users.
- Making any necessary Revisions.
- Follow-up with a conclusion on what I learned.
